This event was part of a collaborative reading series between the the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the International Writing Program, and the Nonfiction Writing Program.

About the Authors:

Laksmi Pamuntjak

An author and food critic, Laksmi Pamuntjak was a 2006 participant in the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program. She is regular contributor to Tempo magazine with columns and articles on politics, literature and music. She has also written for The Jakarta Post, the socio-economic journal Prisma as well as many other journals. She edited, translated and launched Goenawan Mohamad: Selected Poems and is a co- founder of the bilingual bookstore Aksara, in Jakarta. Her first collection of poetry, Ellipsis, has just been published by Equinox Publishing (March 30, 2006).

Nathalie Stephens

Nathalie Stephens writes l’entre-genre in English and French. Her most recent works include L’Injure, Paper City and Je Nathanaël, which was also released in English self-translation (BookThug, 2006). L’Injure was a finalist for the 2005 Prix Alain-Grandbois and le Prix Trillium; the fiction Underground was a finalist in 2000 for the Grand Prix du Salon du livre de Toronto. Stephens is the recipient of a 2002 Chalmers Arts Fellowship. She currently teaches in the MFAW program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Nico Alvarado-Greenwood is a recent graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
