Iowa Writers' Workshop alumnus Paul Harding's novel Tinkers was recently awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. In a recent post on the University of Iowa's Be Remarkable website, Winston Barclay chronicles Harding's journey toward receiving the award. According to the post, during the 10-year period following graduation, Harding began to believe he would never even be published. In the end, his perseverance paid off: In the same week he won the Pulitzer, Harding was also awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
